Wargamer's 21 Questions

Saw this list floating around a few of my fellow wargamer's blogs and decided to try it for myself. Not sure exactly where it came from or who started it, so if you might be the person who created it drop a comment below and I'll make sure you get the credit you deserve. Anyways, onto the list!

1.) Favorite wargaming period and why?
I have many interests when it comes to wargaming time periods (VSF, science fiction, pulp, fantasy), but if I had to choose it would be post apocalyptic because it is historical enough to be relevant but science fiction enough to build on and make the period your own.

2.) Next period, money no object?
Hmm, probably a two way tie between WW2 (Flames of War most likely), and Victorian Science Fiction (GASLIGHT)

3.) Favorite 5 Films?
Not necessarily in order, I like them all pretty much equally.
- Book of Eli
- Dark Knight Rises
- Captain America
- Avengers
- Anything by my main man George A. Romero

4.) Favorite 5 TV Series?
Again, not in any particular order.
- Big Bang Theory
- Firefly
- The Walking Dead (Bring back Dale, remove Carl and it would be perfect!)
- Warehouse 13
- Castle

5.) Favorite book and author?
I don't really read novels that much but my most recent delving was Flight of the Eisenstein by James Swallow, and that was a very interesting backstory to how the Deathguard became corrupt through the eyes of their first captain Garro. Definately worth the read if you enjoy space marines, 40k lore, and zombies ;)

6.) Greatest General? Can't count yourself!!
Sherman hands down. If he can do that much havoc with so little, he knew how to psych out the enemy. We named a frickin' tank line after him because of that, and that's saying something!

7.) Favorite wargaming rules?
Since I can't decide, and the question doesn't necessarily say I have to pick one...

8.) Favorite sports team?
Not a fan of sports, but I'd say the Detroit Tigers in support of my local baseball team.

9.)If you had a one use time machine, when and where would you go?
Back to the beginning of my middle school days so I could slap some sense into myself and make myself do better educationally... and be less of a procrastonator :P

10.) Last meal on Death Row?
Crock pot beef stew, homemade sour dough bread, and potato skins from my mom and sister. Then mashed potatoes (the secret is cream cheese :P ), biscuits and gravy, and ribs from my grandmother all in one meal. Those women can cook! If that fails, a burger meal from Famous Daves BBQ would be great.

11.) Fantasy relationship and why?
Redhead gamer girl who loves me for who I am. Still waiting for her :)

12.) If your life were a movie, who would play you?
Josh Peck, with the entire movie narrated by Morgan Freeman.

13.) Favorite Comic Superhero?
Captain America. Seriously, what's cooler than a super soldier beating the crap out of nazis with nothing but his fists and a shield?

14.) Favorite military quote?
"I don't know what weapons they will fight with in World War III, but I know World War IV will be faught with sticks and stones." -Albert Einstein

15.) Historical Destination to visit?
Either Chernobyl, the Pyramids of Giza, or the ruins of ancient Greece.

16.) Biggest wargaming regret?
Not finding gamers that have the same interests or playing philosophies as I have. Play for fun and entertainment of all in the period you like.

17.) Favorite fantasy job?
Working as a concept artist for Bethesda Softworks. Here's to a Fallout Detroit in the near future!

19.) Favorite Wargaming Moment?
During the Lucky 13's Apocalypse tournament hosted by Games Workshop up in Great Lakes Crossing (before it was shut down). It was the bottom of the 6th turn, both sides (Order and Disorder) controlled two objectives each, with a single one left in the middle. Thing was, the only thing standing in the way for Disorder (my side), was Logan Grimnar with a pack of grey hunters and Inquisitor Corteaz with ten grey knights, both of these being played by two of my friends who I went there together with.

During the intermission break period after the 3rd turn, there was a competition to see which side could scream WAAAAGH! the loudest, the winners gaining an additional Orbital Bombardment stratagem per player to use during the next half of the game. Before the game started, we all got to choose a stratagem from the Apocalypse book in secret to use at our discression. Everyone choose Orbital Bombardment at the start, we won the contest and gained one more for each player on our side. There were eleven Disorder players.

Long story short, TWENTY ONE orbital strikes were placed on the last objective, the only survivors being Corteaz and Logan themselves, with one wound a piece. We rushed our orks, berzerkers and wyches in and won the game since the heroes lost all of their scoring units. I still tease my friends about it to this day!

20.) The miserable Git question, what upsets you?
This question would fill an entire post by itself, but my main thing is gamers with overinflated egos to the point they put you down for the very smallest details they dislike about you, your army, your favorite period to play in, playing style and/or gaming philosophy. These people need to be locked away in a room together until either their self absorbedness or horrible BO send them off into the Big Sleep.

21.) Favorite video game?
The Fallout series, mainly Fallout 3. You may begin your groaning now >:)

101st Remenants Light Infantry

During a recon of the local ruins in the city's heart, a contingent of soldiers from the national guard stumbled upon an old bunker. After a few days of prying, blasting and forceful entry tactics the metallic doors fell. Within was a cache of old world war tech from a war long past. Little is known of the history behind the conflict, as most of the data within was either fried or decayed to the point of being illegible. One thing was certain to the men however, they were relics of the past and must be powerful. Gathering all they could into convoys, the soldiers brought the old tech and supplies back to their base. After a ferverous discussion, the leaders adopted the tech to their existing gear and policies and the Remenants army was born. Also known as the 101st legion after the patches enblazoned on the uniforms.

These are the basic light infantry of the Remenants, using bolt action rifles and khaki uniforms as their basic wargear.
